Racism in Socialism

Black people have it hard everywhere, even in a society in which "the new man" is supposed to flourish. Fifty-one years after the triumph of the Cuban revolution, there is still racism in the socialist state, in spite of the major efforts made to transform that society. Apparently, deep-seated prejudices have resisted the egalitarian bent of the regime, and still rear their ugly head among the Cuban people.

The struggle for equality is never-ending. Much has been done to level the playing field in places like Cuba, but there is no paradise on this earth. Sadly, the color of one's skin continues to be a major factor in human relations.
