The Mistake of Getting Caught
People who are found at fault, invariably, admit that they have made a "mistake", as if that, somehow, makes it O.K. or lessens their responsibility. The latest example is the NSA's admission that they have made thousands of mistakes over the last five years, collecting information illegally from communications by American citizens at home.
It really is impossible to believe that this has happened unintentionally. One would have to be insanely naive to accept such a thing. The NSA knows exactly what they are doing. The only "mistake" they made was getting caught.
