Blood in Their Hands

Is nothing sacred? Time was when the American Red Cross was one of those institutions that seemed to be above and beyond good and evil, more trustworthy than anything you could think of.

Not anymore.

For the last seven years, the FDA has fined it to the tune of $21 million, mainly for mishandling blood and blood products in significant ways. Now, this is serious stuff, given the fact that the Red Cross is responsible for 43% of the blood supply in the U.S.

Another American myth bites the dust.
