Not A Pretty Picture

Embarrassing --to say the least -- are the revelations that important museums in the United States have in their collections works of art that were stolen by the Nazis. That, in and of itself, is bad enough because it shows, at the very least, questionable or sloppy practices in acquiring them. But, what's worse is the fact that these prestigious institutions have dragged their feet, including going to court or avoiding it on technicalities, in order to keep those ill-gotten artifacts or objects from, very often, their rightful owners as heirs.

As painful as it might be to part with these works of art, truth must be served and justice must be done.
