To Eat or Not To Eat

The world faces both the depletion of fossil fuels and a shortage of food. Ironically, more and more countries are turning to some crops such as cassava and corn to produce cheaper fuel. But, in the process, those crops, who feed millions of people around the world, are beginning to grow scarce as food, especially in the poorer countries, where they are most needed. Unless this growing trend is soon reverted, we may have fuel for all sorts of uses, but we won't have the energy to do anything with it, being too weak from hunger.

The obvious choice is to develop solar, water and wind-powered alternatives to these so-called biofuels, so that we don't have to choose between eating and lighting our homes.
