A "Hero" of 9/11

Americans are well-known for not passing up the chance to make a quick buck. So, when "9/11" happened, many saw it as a golden opportunity to cash-in. These were either the "heroes" or the "victims." In some instances, they were both.

Take the case of  a former naval commander who was at the Pentagon on that fateful day. He got out of the building, but then went back to help others get out to safety. In the process, debris fell on him, and he was awarded more than $300,000 in compensation for his injuries.

Reality check: he wasn't injured at all. He used an old wound to claim compensation. Now, he has been sentenced to three-and-a half years in prison for fraud. Maybe, if there hadn't been all that rush to find "heroes" for the occasion, and the hero-worship of the military, he would've been caught from the start.
