"Fun" in the Afghan Sun

One of the five U.S. soldiers who, not only killed three Afghan civilians wantonly, but abused and made fun of their corpses in gruesome fashion, has pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against the others. For that , he will get 24 years in prison, but he'll be eligible for parole in seven, which is a sweet deal, given the fact that, otherwise, he would've gotten life in prison. You can bet your bottom dollar that he will get parole, because, deep down, Americans find it almost impossible to really condemn one of their own for killing people from other countries.

We'll see what happens to the other defendants in this case, but life is cheap when foreigners are concerned, and, if convicted, they won't do much time.
